I begin by rolling out the stoneware clay and cutting little circles. Each circle is then stamped with the herb names and decorative stripes. Finally I add the hanging wire and let them dry. Once dry, they jump in the kiln for their first (bisque) firing. Now they are ready to be glazed! I used a combination of glossy glazes and they are ready to be fired again in the kiln - this time at 2205 degrees! That’s hot! After cooling, they come out of the kiln and I bend a piece of wire to create their shepards hook looking stake. Each stake is about 12” tall.
The herb stake you receive may not be the one pictured, but it will be the same likeness, color combination and size. -
