This beautifully rustic wall hanging depicts a mauve colored heart with a skeleton and a love bible verse.

I started making this wall hanging by hand distressing and staining a board in a walnut color. Using a matte suede textured paint and a thickening medium, I painted a heart on the board utilizing palette knife. I love seeing the texture of the paint strokes from the palette knife.
I have always held a place in my heart for skeleton keys - they have such a romantic feel and I always tend to pick one up when I go antiquing. I added one to the heart with a copper wire.
In a handwriting script, the love verse has been added to a piece of canvas with raw edges to add to the rustic feel of the piece. The canvas is affixed to the board with nails.
